Scrapbooking with Stampin' Up

Good morning everyone! What a beautiful day it is today! I hope you're enjoying the sunshine as much as I am. The kids are off school now and we've made the long trek south to see family and friends. So today I'm blogging from a beautiful garden whilst sipping Pimms. Ahhhh, this is the life!

Ok, so you didn't come here for a weather report, did you?! Back in March, when the weather was distinctly icky (yes, that's a technical term) I was asked by my good friend Nessie, to do a scrapbook album for her daughter Jane's birthday. Jane is also a special friend of mine so I was only too happy to oblige. It happened that March was also our pre-order month for the new supplies from the Mini Catalogue so I stocked up on everything from the Springtime Vintage range. Papers, cardstock, buttons, Seam Binding ribbons and the lovely Glass Glitter. I also bought one of SU's Linen post-bound albums and had a go at decorating it!

Once I had received the supplies and the photo's I only had just over 2 weeks to complete the whole scrapbook; which meant that the layouts had to be kept simple. I'm usually quite a 'Clean and Simple' scrapper anyway, but these were even more pared down. However, I think the result is still very pleasing!

The layouts today are all of those to do with her childhood... starting with this lovely photo which I used as a 'title' page.

Ocassionally it was necessary to use some non-Stampin' Up! supplies. Mostly these were some rub-on's (as I only had a very very limited supply of SU ones) and a baby record stamp. I don't remember who made either of these supplies as they were in my stash, and have been there for a long, long time!

Growing up with her little brother...

I had a LOT of photo's left over that I wasn't going to scrapbook for various reasons. However, I didn't want to leave them out of the album so I got out my sewing machine and sewed some pockets in the page protectors. It was very easy to do! I looked up a video on YouTube for instructions from Ali Edwards.

I also left some journalling pages for some major events and smaller journalling spots throughout the album. My hope is that Jane and her Mum will be able to sit down and write her story in their own words. Afterall, that is why we scrapbook - to record the story behind the photo's!

Supplies used:
  • Linen Post-bound album
  • Springtime Vintage DSP
  • On board chipboard letters
  • Seam Binding Ribbon
  • Paper Daisies
  • 'Varsity' Alphabet stamp set
  • 'Party this Way' bunting stamp
  • 'Just Perfect' Alphabet stamp set
  • Various SU ribbons

I hope you've enjoyed today's offering! I will be adding more of Jane's album tomorrow.

Thanks for having a look and leaving me a comment!

Loving the clean simple but coordinated look to these pages and great idea to make your own pocket pages. Must get my scrapping mojo back on.
